Before Your Visit

Virtual visits require the Zoom Client For Meetings.   Visit Zoom's Getting Started page to download Zoom and ensure your installation and set-up are done well in advance of your appointment. While the download and installation should only take a couple of minutes, it’s good to do it well in advance in case you encounter any issues. In addition to download and installation, the page offers help setting up, learning to use, and troubleshooting problems.

You can optionally download the Zoom Mobile App directly from the App Store or Google Play.  UMass Memorial Health offers a video demonstration on downloading the mobile app if you need help.

Welcome to UMass Memorial Health's virtual waiting room for your telehealth visit. Your doctor will join the video call shortly.

If you have waited for longer than 15 minutes past your scheduled appointment time, please contact your provider's office for an updated wait time estimate.

 

Tips for a Successful Telehealth Visit

Please make sure you are in a quiet area where you can protect your privacy during your visit. When your provider joins the meeting, you will be automatically taken out of the waiting room and into the meeting. You will see yourself and your provider in 2 different windows on the screen. Select "Call using Internet Audio" from the white pop-up window. For best sound quality use earbuds or headphones during the visit.

How to Change Your Name

Once you are in the meeting, go to the Participants window. Hover over your name and click on the More button and select Rename.

From the Rename window, modify the name displayed in the Enter a new screen name field. Then click OK.

You can find the Participants window by looking for the icon in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. If you do not see a menu bar, hover over the bottom of the screen.

Tips on how to use the Zoom interface with the text 'Click on the bottom of your screen to open Participants window. Hover over your name to see the More button. Select Rename from the dropdown. Type in the Enter New Name Here field and click Rename'.

How to Mute/Unmute

When your microphone is muted, the menu bar at the bottom of your screen will show a picture of a microphone with a red line through it. Click on the picture to Unmute. The menu bar will now show a picture of a microphone without a line through it signifying that you are no longer on mute.

How to Turn Your Camera On/Off

When your camera is off, the menu bar at the bottom of your screen will show a picture of a camera with a red line through it. Click on the picture to turn on your video. The menu bar will now show a picture of a camera without a line through it signifying that you are on video.
