Planned Giving

When you include UMass Memorial Health in your estate plan, your generosity improves the health of the people of our diverse communities of Central Massachusetts.

You may choose to make a gift to honor or remember a family member or friend, to thank a caregiver or to mark a special occasion. If you choose to make tribute or memorialize someone with your gift, please note the name of the person(s) you are honoring, and if possible provide the name and address of the person(s) you would like us to notify.

Gifts Through Your Estate

By including UMass Memorial Health in your estate plans, you have a profound impact for generations to come and inspire others with your legacy of generosity. Naming UMass Memorial in your will or trust is a simple and flexible way to make a deferred gift that reflects your enduring values and philanthropic priorities. Through your estate plans, you can make a gift of a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate once all of your other distributions have been fulfilled as you wish. You can make a planned gift to UMass Memorial in many ways, including the options outlined below:

  • Bequests – You may designate a gift of cash, securities, real estate or personal property through your will or trust to UMass Memorial.
Life Insurance – You can name UMass Memorial as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
  • Retirement Plans – Retirement plan assets often come with estate and income taxes that leave little left over for heirs. However, by designating UMass Memorial as a remainder beneficiary of your retirement account, you can support meaningful work while minimizing your family’s tax burden. A retirement gift plan is simple to make: Simply add UMass Memorial to your “beneficiary designation” information on file with your retirement plan administrator at any time.
