Dr. Swierzewski is certified by the American Board of Urology and has been a member of the American Urological Association for more than 30 years. He is also a member of the American Association of Clinical Urologists, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the American Fertility Society, among others, and has twice been awarded the Continence Public Education Award by the American Foundation of Urologic Disease.
He has presented at nearly 50 regional, national and international professional conferences throughout his career and has authored or co-authored more than a dozen publications in scientific journals including the Journal of Urology.
Prior to joining the UMHH Urology practice, Dr. Swierzewski served as Chief of Surgery at Holyoke Medical Center in Holyoke, MA for ten years and Director of Urology for six years. He also served as President of Hampden Urological Associates in Holyoke for more than 20 years.
He earned his medical degree with honors from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, where he currently serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Urology. He completed his residency at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor Michigan.
In addition to his clinical achievements, Dr. Swierzewski has also served in a number of non-clinical roles within the healthcare sector, including as founder, chairman, and CEO of Healthcommunities.com, a consultant for Remedy Health Media, Imagin Medical, Inc., and Dornier MedTech, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for Aquarius Surgical Technologies, Inc. He has also served in the Army National Guard where he achieved the rank of Captain.
