Harrington Scores In Top 10 In Massachusetts Hospital Survey

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. – March 7, 2014 – Harrington HealthCare System has ranked #7 out of more than 60 Massachusetts hospitals surveyed by GoLocalWorcester.com.

The survey studied 176 hospitals in New England, according to patient feedback. Harrington rated in the top third of all hospitals in the list.

“We are happy to see our high standards for patient quality and satisfaction has given us a strong ranking in this survey,” said Kathleen Davis, RN, MSN, Vice President for Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management at Harrington HealthCare System. “Our goal is to continue to raise the bar and give our patients the best possible healthcare experience across all measures.”

GoLocalWorcester.com, an online hub for local news, entertainment, health and lifestyle articles, researched more than 50,000 surveys from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, (HCAHPS). The HCAHPS is a government sponsored survey that looks at the patient experience over several metrics.

GoLocalWorcester examined eight key domains within the HCAHPS questions, including cleanliness of the patients room and communication with the doctor. The sites researchers then applied a proprietary weighting and formula, tabulating patients ratings. Those final sums determined each hospitals ranking.
