Harrington HealthCare Donates $1,000 to Support Youth League

WEBSTER, Mass. – January 17, 2013 – Harrington HealthCare System recently presented a check for $1,000 to South County Pop Warner football and cheer in support of the leagues decision to purchase concussion helmets for their players.

“Being a regional healthcare system and an organization with two emergency care centers, we recognize the importance of safety in sports, especially youth sports,” said Ed Moore, Harrington President and CEO. “We applaud South County Pop Warner to take preventive measures in helping to protect their players and we are happy to support such an important cause.”

South County Pop Warner President Stephen Carroll accepted the check, along with League Vice President John Webber, Football Coordinator Butch Mattson, and a number of players and cheerleaders at a recent year-end banquet.

“Were deeply appreciative of the support Harrington HealthCare System has provided our league, our players and our families,” Stephen said.

Harrington HealthCare System sees more than 30,000 patient visits each year through their Webster and Southbridge Emergency Departments. The physicians, nurses and mid-level practitioners treat for many circumstances, including athletic injury.

South County Pop Warner is home to more than 200 youth ages 5-15 who participate in various levels of football and cheering. Their home field is on Ray Street in Webster. The purchase of the concussion helmets cost the league a total of $12,000.
