Commerce Bank Donates $10,000 to Harrington ED Campaign

WEBSTER, Mass. – February 22, 2013 – Commerce Bank has generously donated $10,000 to Harrington HealthCare Systems fundraising campaign to rebuild the Emergency Department in Webster.

The donation brings the amount raised for the Strengthening Our Future campaign from local residents, businesses and foundations to more than $1 million. Thanks to a $4 million matching grant from an anonymous donor, the sum raised totals more than $2 million.

The money raised will help support an $8.8 million fund-raising campaign to modernize and renovate the Emergency Department at the Webster campus at 340 Thompson Road.

Harrington HealthCare at Hubbards Emergency Department is the focal point of healthcare in Webster, Dudley, Oxford, Douglas, Thompson and surrounding communities in South Central Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. The Emergency Department in Webster sees more than 12,000 patient visits a year, but has not had a substantial overhaul since it was constructed in 1955.

Harringtons Emergency Department plays a vital role in the Webster area, said Commerce Bank President and CEO Brian W. Thompson.

Harringtons Emergency Department in Webster has saved countless lives over the years,” Thompson said. “When the Emergency Department on Thompson Road is rebuilt, it will be an even bigger asset to our community than it has been in the past.”
