Dear Harrington Family,
A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community.
National Hospital Week (May 7–13), first and foremost, is a celebration of people. At Harrington, we are extremely proud of each member of our staff and volunteer. We recognize the important role you play in extending a sense of trust to our patients and our communities.
The recent announcement that Harrington has been awarded its 11th straight “A” for patient safety from Leapfrog is one of the strongest indications of our collective commitment to our patients and to the communities we serve.
The additional nod from the Worcester Telegram & Gazette as the organization with the Best Workplace Culture is further evidence of the patient-focused values, attitudes and behaviors that Harrington employees share and use on a daily basis in their work.
Finally, we were most recently recognized by the Center for Health Information and Analysis for having the lowest readmissions rate in Central Massachusetts from 2011-2015. At only 13.7 percent, we faired better than Worcester, Milford and MetroWest facilities and beat the state average of 15.8 percent. The percentages reflect patients who returned to a hospital within 30 days of their first admittance.
It is in that spirit that I thank you for your service and wish you a very happy National Hospital Week.
Sincerely,
Ed Moore
President and CEO
