About paperless billing and how to change your billing preferences
Most departments are going cashless/checkless as of October 2023. Payments can be made via myChart during PreCheck-In with credit or debit, or on the date of service with debit, credit, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Our patients will experience these benefits:
*Cash and checks will continue to be accepted at Harrington Hospital Financial Counseling (340 Thompson Road, Webster, MA and 100 South Street, Southbridge, MA). If eligible, your prompt pay discount will appear in your myChart account summary, in the Pay As Guest Portal, and on your billing statement.
If you are unable to pay your balance in full, we offer flexible interest free payment agreements. With a myChart account, you can establish your payment agreement including the option to enroll in auto pay.
If you do not have a myChart account, call our customer service team at 800-225-8885. They can assist you with setting up a plan that best meets your needs.
If you establish a payment agreement, you are not eligible for a prompt pay discount.
UMass Memorial Harrington hospital and Physician’s group is introducing a new patient billing statement on October 1, 2023. If you are seen at a hospital outpatient site, you may receive two bills – one from Harrington Hospital and one from the doctor (UMass Memorial Medical Group or other providers).
The Harrington Hospital bill includes charges that cover the costs of running the site and tests that you may need. You may need to pay copayments, coinsurance or deductibles set by your health plan for hospital charges. The doctor’s bill covers the charges for your doctor’s services. Learn more about your bill.
If we have complete information on your health insurance coverage, we first send the bill for your care to your insurer. However, you may have received a bill from us for deductibles, copays and services not covered by your insurance. You can call your insurance company directly with questions about its coverage. The telephone number is usually on your insurance card.
Note: Your insurance company may send you an Explanation of Benefits, which may look like a bill but in fact explains what your insurance has paid for.
