CHARLTON, Mass., December 20, 2017 – Sara Akbari Mahony, M.D., a board-certified ophthalmologist, will join Harrington Physician Services Ophthalmology practice in Charlton in January.
Dr. Mahony most recently practiced at the University of Massachusetts where she served as the Director of the Cornea and External Disease Department. Prior to that, she was an ophthalmologist in Daly City, California.
“We look forward to the arrival of Dr. Mahony to our Charlton ophthalmology practice,” said Kristin Morales-Lemieux, chief operating officer for HPS. “She brings a lot of experience in specialized eye diseases as well as a routine eye care.”
After receiving her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Dr. Mahony completed her residency at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, followed by a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute.
Dr. Mahony is available to see patients ages 13 years and older and specializes in corneal disease. For an appointment, call 508-765-9068.
The HPS ophthalmology office provides routine eye exams and surgical procedures including the treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and misalignment. Located at 20 Southbridge Road in Charlton (Route 169), the office has an on-site optical shop, which provides brand name lenses for adults and children. Patients can also have their contact lens prescription filled and glasses adjusted or cleaned.
