Harrington Offers Free Mammograms During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

SOUTHBRIDGE/CHARLTON/WEBSTER, Mass. – October 2, 2014 – To celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness, Harrington HealthCare System is offering free mammograms this month to women who are uninsured and overdue for their annual appointments.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department has opened special appointment times at its Webster, Southbridge, and Charlton campuses for women who call and qualify for a free mammogram.

“We are dedicated to helping woman take control of their breast health,” said Nellie Dingui, Mammography Supervisor at Harrington. “The success rate in early detection of breast cancer is an important message that we want to reach across all communities.”

Harrington has an innovative relationship with Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), which means imaging services at all of Harrington’s sites are among the most advanced and comprehensive available, and read by some of the world’s best- trained radiologists.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends women begin receiving their annual mammogram at age 40, unless additional risk factors recommend starting earlier.

Harrington HealthCare System is a leader in providing patients with clinical excellence, comfort, convenience, and cutting-edge technology. Our imaging modalities include MRI, CT Scan, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine scanning, X-Ray Bone Densitometry, and Digital Mammography.

To schedule an appointment or discuss further information about the free screening, contact the Harrington Central Scheduling Department at 1-888-765-3020.
