Harrington to Hold First Bike Ride Fund Raiser in June

WEBSTER, Mass. – March 29, 2013 – Harrington HealthCare System has announced Ride to Rebuild, a bike ride fund raiser to support Strengthening Our Future – the capital campaign to rebuild the Emergency Department at Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard in Webster.

The event will be held Sunday, June 9. Registration is now open. Participants can sign up by going to www.ridetorebuild.kintera.org.

“Ride to Rebuild is unique to our area and will help build awareness and support around the Strengthening Our Future campaign,” said Sean Mitchell, Director of Development at Harrington. “This event has been generating great enthusiasm in the Webster area.”

Bikers will start and finish at the Webster campus at 340 Thompson Road. Participants can choose from a 12, 30, 62 or 100 mile course. The century mile loops as far west as Brimfield and as far north as Spencer before returning to Webster. Cyclists begin at 7 a.m. All the route maps are located on the registration website.

General registration is $30. Harrington is encouraging participants to sign up as individuals or with a team. The suggested minimum each cyclist raises is $250. The total fund raising goal is $50,000.

The community has rallied behind this event, offering significant sponsorships and support. Harrington would like to thank its Century Sponsor, Southbridge Indoor Cycling and Fitness, for its extensive support. The center, located on Hamilton Street in Southbridge, is offering cycling classes to help riders get in condition for the event. Southbridge Bicycles, adjacent to the studio, is offering a free personal fitting if a bicycle is purchased at its store. Ride conditioning classes are also being held at Powerhouse Gym in Webster. Those interested in these offerings should call any of the locations to inquire.
