SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 3, 2011 — Four physicians trained in Emergency Medicine are joining the Harrington HealthCare System to work in the Emergency Departments in Southbridge at Harrington Hospital and in Webster at Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard.
All four doctors completed their residencies in Emergency Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School residency program in Worcester, training under Harringtons Chief of Emergency Medicine, Dr. James J. Sullivan Jr. Dr. Sullivan was Assistant Professor and Associate Program Director at the University of Massachusetts Medical School residency program from 2002 until he was hired by Harrington in the Fall of 2010.
Dr. Sullivan is currently deployed as an Emergency Medicine doctor with the U.S. Military in Afghanistan as a member of the Active Navy Reserve. He is scheduled to return to the Harrington staff later this year.
“I am very pleased that we are hiring physicians who were trained and recruited by Dr. Sullivan, including two who served as Chief Resident,” said Edward H. Moore, Harringtons President and CEO. “Their addition to the staff will significantly augment our Emergency Medicine services in Southbridge and Webster.”
Dr. Andrew Marino received his medical degree from the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and a bachelors degree in biology from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. He was Chief Resident at University of Massachusetts Medical.
Dr. Michael J. Gray, who also served as Chief Resident at UMass Medical, received his medical degree from Boston University. In addition, he received a masters degree in health & human performance from the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga, a masters degree in medical sciences from Boston University and a bachelors degree in sports medicine from Merrimack College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Giza M. High received her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University / Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. She received a bachelors degree in biology from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
Dr. John J. Flanagan received his medical degree from UMass Medical and a bachelors degree in chemistry from Middlebury College in Vermont.
