SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. – Representatives from The Cancer Center at Harrington were recently presented with a $14,000 check from the 2016 Festival of (Giving) Trees.

Members of The Cancer Center and Festival of Giving Trees.

The Festival is an annual event in Southbridge which features more than 100 uniquely decorated trees on display. Raffle tickets are sold and participants can enter to win one or more of the beautifully-decorated trees.

“We are so pleased to be given this money, which will help our patients and their families as they receive weekly and often daily cancer treatments,” said Pam Zouranjian Connor, administrator for the Cancer Center. “The Festival of (Giving) Trees is such a wonderful event for our community and we are grateful for their generosity.”

Each year, many decorated trees are donated by local businesses, but anyone in the community is welcome to donate. Many trees are entered to honor a loved one who is currently battling cancer or has passed from the disease. Harrington HealthCare has been participating in the event for the past several years, creating a larger display of gifts and prizes, typically totaling more than $3,000.

“We are always happy to present our check to the Cancer Center at Harrington. We are so fortunate to have this state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility right in our backyard,” stated Janet Garon, Festival of (Giving) Trees chairman and president. “It is because of the generosity and support of the hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of people that attend our annual event, that we are able of offer these contributions to our recipient agencies year after year. Many thanks to you all.”

The mission of the Festival is to raise money to help the Silent Spring Institute, the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition and The Cancer Center at Harrington. Over the past 19 years, the Festival of {Giving} Trees has raised and donated over $500,000 to these beneficiaries.

The 2017 Festival of (Giving) Trees will be held November 30 through December 3 at LaSalle Reception Hall in Southbridge. For more information, visit sparklingtrees.com.
